Two ends of the spectrum.. Dr. Schecter, Daniella and the medical staff are precise, friendly and professional. SUPREME care. The front desk staff needs an etiquette course and realize they should focus on the patient and not what they are going to order for lunch. I interrupted their chatter and got their attention to complete checking in. It was unacceptable. I wonder what wrap tasted the best. Caesar, pesto or buffalo.

Very happy with Dr. Rowlands. For most appointments we are seen in a timely fashion, meaning within 60-75 minutes. This last visit however took literally 3 hours from check in to check out with approximately 45-55 minutes of actual patient engagement. Don’t recommend making afternoon appointments. 4 stars for patient care but not for appointment management and efficiency.

The pace at which I was seen (Get it?! Eyes…! 👀 See?!) and was guided through the various stages and tests was very comfortable to me, as the patient. I did not feel as though I was “stuck” waiting for too long at any phase of the exams. The various tests were thorough and comprehensive. The results were quick and accurate. Nothing was sloppy. The personnel were all polite. However, I felt as though they were all in a race of some sort. From the front desk to the “techs?” to the desk where one checks out, they all were moving quickly. The employees were zooming all over the place as though they were on fire! Each staff member used warm phrases when speaking to patients, but I doubted their sincerity. Why? Because they were racing some invisible clock!! To gain some control, at one point I began asking my assigned tech questions about herself. I think that surprised her at first, but she seemed to welcome the personal interaction! We chatted and found some commonality. That connection I found comforting! That human connection. The facility is crowded and big enough. Too big? I get it. But, if you want to develop a sense of loyalty, then S L O W down, don’t over-schedule, and add some personal touches. That matters to patients. Eerily, there aren’t any pictures or paintings on the walls in the bowels of the building or the testing rooms. Plus, the walls are painted “Prison Gray.” What’s that about? The environment was akin to “Severance.” An added touch might be to assign some creative folks to put up some holiday “Valentine” decorations at the front desk? Would it alter the medical outcome? No, probably not. But these suggestions might make the patients (consumers) have a better experience and remember the warmth of the employees. We’re all afraid of any bad news, so soften the blow by helping to make us more comfortable.

My personal eye Doctors advised me to go to Florida eye Institute to take care of a three week long eyelid issue. Dr. Shechter took care of it. I’m glad I’m turning the corner in healing. While they are very busy there, it is well worth the wait time.
